Ethical Leadership on the Oil Sands
Our Focus
One focus of the Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership is to encourage public debate and ethical leadership in policy making concerning the many ethical issues which surround government regulation of oil sands development in Alberta.
Our work on the oil sands is not concerned with the ethics of companies working in the oil sands, but instead with the ethics of current and future public policy related to the oil sands.
Ongoing Projects in this Area
Our activities in this area are aimed at nurturing the public demand for ethical leadership on oil sands development. Many people believe that public policy on development of the oil sands has not been, and is not, adequate to the task of containing harm related to oil sands development, and have called for public policy leadership.

Many people believe that public policy on development of the oil sands has not been, and is not, adequate to the task of containing harm related to oil sands development, and have called for public policy leadership.
We want to contribute to an open and honest discussion of what ethical leadership by government on development of the oil sands would look like.
